Is it odd that my alarm goes off earlier on weekends than on weekdays?
But I'm not complaining. I sincerely enjoy being one of the first bodies at the range on a

weekend morning. It was a brisk 50 degrees when we arrived and there was still just enough mist in the air that I was happy that I remembered to bring my jacket. But even though it was a little cold and a little wet; it didn't dampen the moods of the volunteers and participants that took part in this weekends Action Pistol event.
Jeff and his crew slaved through the 90 degree Friday to set up 6 of the best stages that I think I have ever run at CCSSEF. (Yes, I am still less than a year into this sport). Every Stage had something different about it and every stage was a pleasure.

This weekend we attracted 25ish participants with a wide range of experience and talent. Shooters came from hours away to experience the positive reputation that we are working hard to grow. And just as before, these shooters come prepared to push their limits and the score sheets reflect their dedication to the sport.
Jeff stayed true to his word and tormented the crowd with two poppers in front of a Texas Star which in turn was placed in front of two No-Shoot targets. The crowd laughed and cursed when they got to this stage but they all left with smiles at the end of it. (We will not be able to use those No-Shoot targets again next weekend). He also had us shooting from our knees through hollowed out barrels. We were shooting while walking, running, kneeling and swearing. There couldn't have been any more targets left in storage during this match. Jeff definitely pulled out all the stops for this one.

We tore through the six stages in rather quick fashion and were packing up the stages by the time the clock hit noon. Most of the participants even stayed to help break down the stages which was unnecessary but very greatly appreciated! We are grateful for the caliber of participants that we attract. We certainly couldn't ask for a better group of shooters.
Speaking of next weekend, a number of us are venturing to the New Hampshire State USPSA match at Pioneer Sportsman's Club to show them what we are made of. If history repeats itself, the Concord Crew will have an amazing set up for us to poke holes in. According to Pracitscore.com, it looks like they are going to be running 10 stages of aggravation. Weather looks to be 72 and partly sunny. Perfection.
If anybody is looking to get some trigger time in before next weekends big match, we will be running our usual Wednesday night practice session at CCSSEF. $5.00 per person. All are welcome. If you want to watch some of the havoc that we have been creating, you can check out our new Youtube channel. Its appropriately named Cheshire County Action Pistol. https://youtu.be/-uSSP-zfJQg
Hammer down and holster,
